I wasn’t very worried about the coronavirus until two of my coworkers got sick.

Then I started to worry a lot and I became very anxious.

I told my husband that I wanted an air filtration machine for our home. My husband thought I was being paranoid and he told me that we were being safe and taking good precautions. I still wanted an air purifier, so I called a company that specializes in indoor air solutions and ventilation equipment. I had them come give me a free estimate while my husband was at work. I knew he would complain if I called them on a Saturday or a Sunday. I thought it wouldn’t hurt to have them take a look at my house since the estimate was 100% free with no obligation. The indoor air solutions company specialist told me that he could add a special adapter to our HVAC units. The adapter uses UV light to kill harmful germs and viruses that passed through the HVAC system. The adapter was expensive but very easy to install. I was going to wait until my husband got home so the two of us could discuss the air filtration equipment, but the salesperson gave me an amazing deal on the installation charges. I decided to have the work done before my husband even got home from work. He was pretty upset when he got home and realized that I spent a chunk of money without discussing it first, but he was really happy about the air filtration product. Both of us are hopeful that it will keep our family safe.

Almost all restaurants, businesses, and social establishments have air purifiers filtering the indoor air to help fight against the covid-19 virus. I work for a company that services these air purifiers. 80% of the machines that you see are rental units. Industrial air purifiers are very expensive and most companies can’t afford to spend that kind of money when times are already tough and lean. I spend all day on Wednesday and Friday servicing the air purifiers that we have in local businesses. On Wednesday I went to the grocery store. They have an air purifier at the front of the store, one in the break room, and one in the business office. I serviced all three units and everything was working well. On Friday, the air purifier in the break room was broken and it wasn’t working at all. No one had any idea how it happened. I asked a lot of people in the building, because the air purifier had major damage. It looked like someone kicked it with a steel boot or dropped it down the stairs. There is absolutely no way that the air purifier could have sustained the damage without a major disaster. I tried to get an answer, but everyone was tight-lipped. I told the manager that we were going to charge them for the damage and I replaced the air purifier with a different machine. It’s probably going to be 4 or $500 to repair the damage that occurred. If the manager knows what happened, he better get someone to reimburse him for the damages.

My wife and I couldn’t conceive any children of our own, So eventually we decided to adopt.

We were planning to bring home a young boy or a girl, but we found a group of three siblings that didn’t want to be split up. We had plenty of room in our home for all of the children and we decided to give them a loving home with the two of us. As the children started to get older, my wife and I started to think about adopting a few more children. We were looking for another set of siblings to rescue from the system. My wife found two 10 year old boys that were twins. They were looking for a home with other children and our place seemed like the perfect fit. My wife and I and our children met with the boys a couple of times and we all clicked immediately. The boys moved in a couple of months ago and now my wife and I have five children and our home. We’ve had to make some changes to make room for all of the kids. We turned my den into a bedroom, and we turned the garage into a den. We had to buy a ductless mini split HVAC to put in the garage, because there wasn’t any heat or cool air in the space. I still needed space to work, but we wanted all of the kids in the house. The mini-split HVAC unit solved our heating and cooling needs and a nice contractor installed the system in less than a day. I finally feel like our family is complete.

I planned a huge party to celebrate the winter holiday. I wanted everything to be perfect oh, so I contacted the heating company to have them check the furnace for any problems. A couple of years ago, I planned another Christmas party and I had to call it off at the last minute due to a problem with the furnace. All of my friends were disappointed and I was upset too. I couldn’t have a party without any heat, and we had leftovers and party appetizers for a week. I didn’t want anything to go wrong this time, so I decided to contact the heating company so they could perform a full maintenance check up on the furnace. If there were going to be any problems, I wanted to solve them before the night of the party. I was happy to find out that the furnace was in very good condition. The heating company serviceman told me that it was in great shape. He even changed the furnace filter. On the night of the party, everything went according to plan. I had 47 guests on that evening and we laughed and joked and had a wonderful time. Things certainly won’t be like that this year, because we can’t even have a Christmas party due to the quarantine. I really hope that the news is right about the vaccine, because my friends and my family and I want to go back to living our life the way we did before everyone was worried and scared. I’m certainly ready for a cure or a vaccine so life can resume to business as normal.

Sometimes when I go online I get very depressed about kids these days. I know that’s an old, crotchety human thing to say. However, it really does seem like this generation is growing up with such strange expectations and responsibilities. Nowadays, children are extremely socially active when it comes to major global issues. However, they have no idea what it means to perform a basic hard-working task or to keep up with rudimentary chores around the house. This is hard for me to understand, because I grew up in a household where kids were expected to pull their weight. One of my least favorite chores was taking care of the heating, cooling, and air quality control system. We had a large centralized furnace and air conditioning setup which ran on a basic dial thermostat like you see in the movies. Because we had one set of air handling equipment providing all of our indoor air temperature and air quality control for the entire house, we relied on an extensive air duct system hidden behind our walls. Of course, we needed to take care of the indoor air handling devices to keep them operating properly. My parents called out professional heating and cooling technicians for the diagnostics and repairs necessary for our air conditioner and furnace. However, they wanted their kids to take care of the smaller heating and cooling chores. This is why I got stuck with the job of replacing the air filter for our HVAC devices every month. I also had to clean the air vents and air ducts as a small child. Because I was the tiniest kid in the family, I actually had to crawl through the grimy ductwork to accomplish this goal. Kids these days have no idea.

I absolutely agree that it is not great for keeping a positive outlook on life or feeling optimistic. However, I also find that the more I think about negative things happening, the less likely they are to happen. This is why I was very upset with myself last week when I did not think about all of the indoor air quality control disasters that could take place while my husband and I were out of town. We were going on vacation and quickly set the thermostat to away mode. This meant, the indoor air temperature control device would keep our heating and cooling system running at a very low level which was appropriate for keeping pipes from freezing or mold from growing. Other than that, we did not worry very much about the indoor air temperature, our furnace, or our air conditioning unit. In fact, we thought we would be saving a lot of money on our energy bills by taking this trip. Little did we know, a massive storm would blow through the area and cause damage to our home while we were gone. We returned to the house to find a gaping hole in one of our walls and our thermostat desperately trying to keep the indoor air temperature managed, despite the absence of indoor air containment or insulation. When we received the energy bill for the month, I really began kicking myself for my lack of catastrophic thinking.

I like to think that I am a pretty cool parent.

I never wanted to be the sort of adult who squashed my kids dreams or told them they couldn’t be true to themselves. I also wanted to have a close relationship with all of my offspring, rather than establishing an authoritative relationship that caused us to be distant. This is one of the reasons why I was happy to turn our backyard shed into a private suite for my son. All we needed to do to transform the unused building into a viable living space was to install indoor air temperature control for him. We didn’t want to give him anything too fancy as far as indoor air temperature control and ventilation, so we just had a mini split ductless heating and cooling system installed. He could easily change the indoor air temperature up or down depending on his preferences and the conditions outdoors. You never know when you are going to need to offset a burning hot day or a freezing cold night. We thought that the mini split ductless heating and cooling system was doing a good job… Until we saw that my son was opening his windows every night. It appeared as though we were paying for the heating and cooling system to operate, and meanwhile he was letting all of the high-quality indoor air escape into the atmosphere. We sat down to talk to my son about his HVAC usage and our energy bills. I’m glad to say, he was very honest about the reason. He didn’t want his cool new living space to reek of weed, so he tried to ventilate the smoke outdoors. After that, we bought him an air purifier. I’m glad we can have honest conversations.

I apparently began resetting my thermostat controls that evening

Just a word of advice from me to you, if you tend to get sad in the winter season… Do not turn to alcohol to pass the time. I honestly can’t tell you how many days I spent drunk in my younger years, just trying to kill time until spring finally arrived. When you live in a climate like mine, the winter season is extremely depressing. It’s cold all the time, you barely see the sun lights, and there is a blustering wind that will cut through all of your clothing. This is why you find yourself stuck indoors, relying entirely on your central heating system to stay alive. Half of the time of the heating system is not even warm enough to offset the ice cold conditions outdoors. This is why people wind up installing gas powered fireplaces and portable heating devices throughout their homes. You literally cannot rely on a modern forced air furnace or boiler system to keep you alive when the outdoor air temperature can easily be -20 degrees. As you can imagine, it’s easy to start imbibing under these conditions. I’m here to tell you, drinking too much can lead to indoor air temperature disaster if you aren’t careful. I found this out the hard way when I apparently and dolls in too much eggnog and decided my indoor air temperature control system was not doing a good job of managing my indoor air quality. I apparently began resetting my thermostat controls that evening. The next morning when I woke up drenched in sweat and strangely cold at the same time, I realized that my heating system was working at full blast… Meanwhile I had gotten too hot and also opened a window. It took me hours to fix my thermostat programming and shovel the snow out of my room.

I have a buddy who is a really nice guy, but he loves to brag about all the things he does.

I feel in a way, it kind of negates the good deeds he does when he is telling everybody around all the good he has done and makes it sound like people couldn’t get by without him.

He is an HVAC technician and he is a very talented one. He has helped out most of his friends and family when it comes to working on our HVAC systems and installing certain HVAC components. He helped me out this past spring by getting me a cooling system tune-up and he even cleaned out my ductwork system. I was going to pay him for his services, but he insisted that I owed him nothing. Of course later on he was bragging to everybody how he helped me out when I was struggling financially. The thing is, I wasn’t struggling financially and I had to set the record straight to my buddies. It’s not so terrible that he brags I guess, but I don’t like it when he makes stuff up, it makes me look bad. I was ready to pay him full price for his services and if he offered a discount, that would have been cool. I didn’t expect for him to do everything for free! It was nice at the time but I didn’t like the way it made me feel when he said I was struggling financially. Other buddies of mine have felt the same way when he brags about helping. I think we all might have to have an intervention with our HVAC buddy.

It’s funny because our daughter used to say how Valentine’s Day was a dumb holiday. She was always sick and tired of never getting anything in school just like a lot of people were. Eventually though when she finally met a good guy for her, it suddenly became one of her favorite holidays. Her guy always spoils her with all kinds of chocolates, stuffed animals, and even practical things. This last Valentine’s day, he even got her a smart thermostat. I guess you could say it was technically a gift for both of them since they have been living together, but still it’s a nice gift that’s very thoughtful. We’ve only had a smart thermostat for a couple of years, but it has saved us so much money on the energy bills. My wife actually got it for me on my birthday and I was so excited because I wanted to have a smart thermostat for the longest time. Just the fact that a smart thermostat will save you big money on the energy bills is reason enough to have one in my opinion. All of the other advanced features are really just a plus. I love being able to adjust the temperature control settings from anywhere, especially when I’m coming back home and I want my place to be nice and comfortable when I walk through the door. This is how I know that our daughter is going to love the smart thermostat and that she has a really great guy who is thoughtful and truly cares about her.
