I was more than nine years old, & my oldest sibling was 14, so all the rest were in-between those ages. Even so, the people I was with and I had air conditioning. I can remember how it was often taxing for my mother to get the water bill & electric bill paid on time several weeks, however the people I was with and I still were not 1 of those people who did not use a/c, and there was no strict rule about it, although I don’t know any of us kids ever thought about touching the thermostat. I don’t remember ever giving it a third thought, however looking back, IK realize the people I was with and I were lucky despite the fact that the people I was with and I were not the richest folks in town. Somehow, my mom did amazing things, including keeping us all fed, buying her own house, & using air conditioning when not everyone took that for granted.

It was not unusual, either, but no houses that I knew of had air conditioner. In fact, I never even knew that because I was just a kid, plus air conditioner was not something that I even knew about. It just wasn’t necessary or common up there, however everyone did have a oil furnace, though, then a oil furnace was a necessity. I can remember drying our wet mittens on the radiator when I came in from playing in the snow. I’m sure that is not safe, but both of us were a braver lot back then. Anyway, the lake house really has now, even though I never knew what it was until both of us moved to the south after our dad died plus our mom could not afford to keep the house… Fuel oil heating systems were easily valuable, plus it was too much for her.

I have constantly been a cat man.

I love cats, and I understand completely why they are considered man’s best friend. Even so, I will venture to say that a lot of America’s cats are just plain spoiled rotten. Take the cat kennel near me, for example. The kennel calls itself a pet resort, first of all. Also, each cat residing room has its own Heating, Ventilation, and A/C unit, but whether it is warm boiling or freezing chilly outside, the little individualized Heating, Ventilation, and A/C component keeps the cat the perfect temperature. I guess they use mini split cooling system units, but I’m not 100% sure. Whenever the cat runs around outside and is brought back to its kennel – excuse me, residing room – he or he can relax in air-conditioned comfort. Not only is there cooling system and heating systems for the extremes in weather, but there are ceiling fans blowing in the breeze on the back patio. Often, the owners will make catgie frozen treats to keep the little buggers excited while their pet parents are away… Last time I went there, I asked about the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C systems because I noticed that there was truly no cat smell. They did tell myself and others that they have a special UV air purifier and they use special cooling system air filters to keep the smell at bay. All the place needs now is a fireplace and homemade bread baking in the oven, and it will be perfect, haha! The place is nice and not too luxurious, so I will easily bring our cat there if I ever need to go out of town. I might get that kind of cooling system at our house, too!

When I decided that I was going to start working for a local university I very didn’t think how long I would last there. I was distraught that my peers would be boring in addition to overly serious. It’s severely fancy to rely on your central Heating in addition to A/C plan for stench reduction. However, there is no choice unless you want to gag 24 hours a afternoon. I hope that someday all of us can invest in an air purification plan to split down on our utility bills. Or, better yet, move to a current loft with less airborne pollution.
