For many years I have had a gas furnace in my home and it has never given me any problems.

• Getting a gas furnace was really one of the best decisions I have made when it comes to HVAC units.

I have purchased some other great HVAC units like a window air conditioner, which has lasted me several years and has saved me from the summer heat. I also purchased a smart thermostat and connected it to both my central air conditioner and gas furnace. My smart thermostat has saved me hundreds and probably even thousands of dollars over the years. While these two HVAC units are great, my greatest HVAC purchase I still believe is my gas furnace. I used to have an old electric furnace and it was awful. Maybe I like my gas furnace so much just because I had a horrible electric furnace for many years before. I have been loving my gas furnace, but unfortunately it has recently gotten a gas leak, and the fumes have somehow gotten into my ductwork. Having gas fumes in your air ducts not only smells bad, but it also is very dangerous and could cause a house fire. Sunce I have some experience working on ductwork and some different HVAC units, I hoped that I would be able to find my furnaces’ gas leak on my own, but after searching for many hours, I gave in and decided to hire a professional HVAC technician. I called the heating and cooling company and asked them to send me an HVAC technician that was good at cleaning air ducts, and that could find a gas leak. The HVAC technician came and fixed my gas furnace.

I had a fortune cookie fortune come true! I was sitting in a restaurant and got really cold because I was sitting next to the air duct and the central air conditioner was on full blast. I wished they would turn off the central air conditioner. When I got my fortune cookie from my waiter, I opened it and it said “you will have great luck with your HVAC units at home, and your HVAC technician will be great.” I had never seen a fortune cookie say something about a heating and cooling unit or even an HVAc technician, but I didn’t think anything of it at first. I went home to work on my central air conditioner which had been giving me problems. When I started working on the central air conditioner, everything seemed to just fall into place and the air conditioner was fixed in no time. After that, I had to get my gas furnace fixed, but this was a job for a professional heating and cooling provider since gas leaks are hard to find. I was a little nervous to call the heating and cooling business to ask for an HVAC technician because the last time I went to the heating and cooling business all of the HVAC technicians I met were a bunch of jerks. I had no choice but to have one come work on my gas furnace. I was happy when the HVAC technicians arrived and surprised me with a friendly smile and pleasant attitude. The gas furnace was fixed in no time. The technician also offered to do an inspection on my whole home air purification system for free. It was now that I realized that my fortune cookie came true.

I learned the hard way that there is nothing new under the sun, especially when it comes to HVAC units.

Every year, my town hosts an HVAC building competition where some of the best HVAC technicians and heating and cooling designers build their best air conditioners, furnaces, and air purifiers and then display them to be voted on.

Whoever has the most unique or just the best HVAC unit wins a huge check. I was still a young HVAC technician, but I thought I knew all there was to know about basically any heating or cooling unit. I had worked as an HVAC technician for four years and for three years I worked in a heating and cooling business as well as an air conditioner and furnace warehouse. I decided to enter the contest, and I had high hopes. Most of the HVAC technicians would make some kind of central air conditioner, electric furnace, or maybe even a UV light air purifier. Some of the more advanced HVAC technicians would build their own smart thermostat. I decided to build an HVAC unit never seen before in the heating and cooling competition. I decided to build a SEER rating device that could be used not only on air conditioners, but also on furnaces of all types. This was no easy task as SEER rating devices are hard to build and the technology is complicated. I went to work in my heating and cooling shed I had built in my backyard. It took several weeks, but I finally finished my SEER rating device in time for the HVAC competition. I won the competition, although my SEER rating device was listed with several other SEER rating devices similar to mine.

My boss promoted me to the shift manager position a couple of weeks ago.

I have been opening the store on Saturday and Sunday mornings since then. I have a key to the store and I know the code to the alarm. It is a lot of responsibility, so I received a promotion and a raise in pay. I’ve been working every weekend since I got promoted. I don’t mind working on Saturday and Sunday, because I can go to the beach and get sun any day of the week. Last Saturday, I had a couple of problems early in the morning. The indoor air temperatures were very warm when I got to work and opened the store. I adjusted the thermostat by a couple of degrees. Shortly after I opened the front doors and welcomed my first customer, I heard a loud sound coming from the back office where the air conditioner is located. As I was walking back to the office, I heard the air conditioner shut off. The air conditioner did not come on again. Even when the temperature was warmer than the setting on the thermostat, the air conditioner still did not blow cold air. A couple of customers complained about the indoor air temperatures. I called my boss to inform her of the indoor air temperatures and the problem with the air conditioner. She called a repair service immediately. We spent most of the day without any cool air in the store, because the air conditioning service professional couldn’t help until much later that afternoon.

My uncle built a cabin in his backyard.

He lives on 80 acres of wilderness so when I say “backyard” I really mean that he built his cabin out in the middle of nowhere.

You can’t see or hear his house, or any other houses, from the cabin. I guess he just wanted a little place to get away from it all and to offer others so that they can get away from it all. Of course, I jumped at the first offer my uncle made for me and the family to come and stay in the cabin. I figured we would have a lot of fun. My wife, on the other hand, wasn’t so sure. She isn’t really the “roughing it” type. Still, she was a good sport and agreed to go along. After all, if she completely hated it she could always stay in the real house with my aunt and uncle. It turns out that everyone loved the cabin. It has all of the amenities of home. But, what we all liked the most, was the gas fireplace. My wife really loved the gas fireplace. She sat in front of it and read a book for the whole vacation. The kids loved playing in the creek then coming inside and warming up near the gas fireplace. The cabin didn’t have a TV but that didn’t matter. I could watch the flames all day long and never get bored. I did also notice that my uncle had installed a ductless mini split system in the cabin as well. I suppose we will have to visit in the summer and check it out. Oh, we are definitely coming back for another visit.

My sister called me up and told me that her HVAC system wasn’t working very well. She said it hadn’t been working the best for months now but that it is getting worse. I don’t know why she was telling me this. I know almost nothing about HVAC units. I am a plumber, not an HVAC repairman. And yet, I am the one everyone in the family calls whenever they need any kind of home repair done. Because I was already coming over to my sister’s house for the holiday I told her I would take a look at her HVAC system anyway. The first thing I noticed was the fact that she had vent filters on every single vent in the house. I asked why and she said that a lot of dust comes out of them. I removed one of the vents and the filter was full of dust. In fact, as far as I could see, the entire duct was full of dust. No wonder she wasn’t getting any heated air if all of the vent filters were so dusty. Additionally, the ductwork shouldn’t be this dirty either. I told her as much. I highly recommended she get a ductwork cleaning done ASAP. Then she would be able to discard the vent filters and I bet her whole HVAC unit would work a lot better. She kept insisting that I should do this for her. I had to remind her that I’m not an HVAC professional. I don’t even have the tools, or the knowhow, to do a ductwork cleaning.

My house went from bug-free to bug infested, seemingly overnight.

It started with a few ants and then the roaches showed up.

No amount of traps or poisons would get rid of them. Finally, we had to call out the professionals. While our house was getting sprayed we had to stay in a hotel, of course. This could have been like a mini holiday if not for the fact that the air conditioner in the hotel was so noisy. I am not joking when I say that the air conditioner sounded like a garbage truck. I made all sorts of banging, clanking, and other sounds. It was impossible to sleep with the air conditioner on because of the sound and it was impossible to sleep with the air conditioner off because of the heat. This went on for 2 days. When we were finally given the green light to go back to our own home we were very happy about it. But, of course, we wanted to know what to do in order to keep the bugs from coming back. The exterminator told us a lot of common sense things but then he also told us some things we didn’t know. For example, he recommended getting a ductwork sealing done on our HVAC system so that bugs don’t get into the house through gaps in our ductwork. He also recommended running the air conditioner whenever it is hot, even if we are not home. Bugs hate cold, dry air. They thrive in warm, humid air. So by using the air conditioner more we would make it harder for bugs to live.

I can hardly believe that we are actually nearing the end of all this pandemic drama.

Still, it’s just so hard to understand the impact that this has made on so many families.

A half million victims is a hideous outcome. I have to remember that when I get a bit giddy thinking there might me a new normal just around the corner. My family and I have been cooped up in the HVAC maintained security of our home for just over a year now. The kids had to learn remotely. And my wife and I had to do our jobs without access to the perfectly HVAC controlled offices we both went to each day. My wife is now back at her office with the great air conditioning. I too am in my office and the heating and air is just excellent. But the difference is that I’m staying home. The company I work for gave me some incentives to stay working remotely so they can downsize the offices. Works for them and works for me. I won’t miss the office politics or the constant interruptions. And I have my own HVAC thermostat in my new home office. Since this is now permanent, I took over the room my wife and I shared for work at the end of our house this past year. I set it up just the way I want it. I even called the HVAC company to have them install a ductless heat pump in my new office. This is the icing on the cake for me. I can work in the perfect indoor air conditioning comfort without changing the main HVAC thermostat of the house.

For a lot of people COVID is a honestly exhausting thing.

Ignoring the whole, you could die, COVID honestly restricts people, and some of my friends complain that they can’t go into the office.

They can’t go to bars, restaurants or shop in the mall like normal. Lots of filmplexs, concerts plus wine tastings are closed due to COVID! For a homebody like me, COVID has been nothing but amazing. It is like certain things are being tailored to be more convenient for me. First, my grocery store decided to offer delivery to make things safe. I don’t have to dress, walk around plus waste time in the store. I am like a king telling some peasant to fetch myself and others ale. Second, I can do virtual pet appointments. My cat Bandit hated being stuffed in a carrier, standing in the waiting room plus then getting prodded. Now I just point my computer at my comfortably sleeping cat plus make sure everything is okay. Finally, I save a lot of money but not buy anything unnecessary. It used to be anytime the Heating plus Air Conditioning wouldn’t turn on, made a loud noise or whatever, I would call my local dealer. Now they don’t come to my condo unless it is necessary. In a virtual appointment I show them the Heating plus Air Conditioning plus let them hear the signs. I usually get loose instruction on how to keep it going plus I only pay a little fee for it. I haven’t needed to have a real company in my condo yet!

Temperature entirely affects our workouts.

I do a tumbling based workout everyday plus the heat or chill entirely can wreck it.

If I am too chilly our muscles believe stiff. I have a difficult time warming up to the point where I can do ariels, tucks plus walkovers. I usually end up hurting myself by stretching too far. Also, bouncing around plus landing on chilly feet plus hands doesn’t believe good. I would way rather tumble in the Wintertide without heating than in the summer time with no cooling. Heat is way worse for a gymnast. The heat makes myself and others believe sleepy plus sluggish. I just can’t seem to get myself motivated. I entirely want to sit on the mat plus just stretch for an hour, but because I am so warm, it is entirely simple to get a wonderful stretch in. However, I leave wet spots on the mat that are simple to slip in. I also have complications with our landings plus beginnings for our tricks. It is simple for a foot to slip, hand to shift plus have our whole body tumble down. I then mentally freak out plus don’t do the trick as well. A little ACE in the summer time entirely does go a long way. That is why in our outdoor shed that I tumble in, I have a ductless mini split. I can have heating in the Wintertide plus AC in the summer. I also have a smart control component set up to turn on the Heating and A/C unit an hour before I labor out. I walk into a perfectly climate controlled building. I never go without that ideal temperature.
