The rental house was not all it was cracked up to be

Six college students, one van, and one tiny rental house on the beach. We pooled all the money we had – which was not much – to set up everything for a perfect weekend. We had boring stuff like clothes and towels and toothbrushes, and then a trunk full of fun stuff like wine and weed. This was not a very nice rental house, but it was the best we could afford. Since we were all together, with tons of party favors, we assumed that the house couldn’t get in the way of our “lost weekend.” We were almost right! The house wasn’t bad, but it lacked a working air conditioner, which became more of a problem as time went on. Even with the windows open to the sea breezes, it was not enough for effectively cooling off such a big and warm place. During the day we spent most of the time outside in the water, but at night that lack of AC really hit us hard. Especially because we were drinking a lot, and taking some pills, our body heat was much higher than usual. To cool off we actually went back outside at midnight to roll in the gentle waves, which was nice, but it still would have been better if the place was air conditioned. After the weekend was over we left a bad review for the owner, because they didn’t disclose that the AC was broken. It turns out the AC had been broken for several months, and there were a lot of other negative reviews we found.
