Air conditioner pollutes indoor air pollen levels

When the two of us first moved into our house, I hired a professional Heating and Air Conditioning business to inspect and service the oil furnace and A/C, he assured myself and others that the system was in wonderful laboring order and should last quite a few more years, although he advised that I enroll into a maintenance plan, I declined.

I didn’t want to make the commitment to something that I felt wasn’t very necessary.

As long as the heating and cooling system continued to start up and deliver comfort, I did nothing beyond the occasional filter substitutement. Last summer, our whole family suffered from frequent headaches… My kids complained of sore throats, congestion and itchy eyeah. My hubby was regularly coughing and sneezing. I wasn’t sure what was causing it. I never suspected the A/C. The only reason I called for A/C service was because the component eventually quit altogether. The Heating and Air Conditioning business I hired took the cooling component apart and showed myself and others the buildup of grime inside. There was an scary amount of mold growing on the evaporator coils. There was algae thriving in the condensate drain and a good deal of dust, lint and assorted contaminants coating every component. The business told myself and others that every time the cooling system started up, those harmful toxins were becoming airborne and getting introduced into our breathing air. Plus, the buildup was restricting airflow through the system, causing it to labor difficult and resulting in higher energy bills, and fortunately, a thorough cleaning fixed all of these problems. I have now invested into a maintenance system that includes respected service of the oil furnace in the fall and the A/C in the Springtime.
