Uncle Jason was worried the mini-split wouldn’t turn on
Uncle Jason had surprised us all when he agreed to relocate from the farm.
Our parents were quite worried about his well-being after he fell ill.
He was living in a big farmhouse alone and fell down the stairs. Were it not for the neighbors, he’d have died without anyone to help him. The fall had been a wake-up call. For a long time, my mom kept insisting he needed to have people around him. But our uncle Jason was quite stubborn. However, he came from the hospital, moved into our home briefly, sold the farm, and bought the house next door. The house had been empty for quite some time and was the best size for him. Instead of getting an AC system plus upgrades to the ductwork, our uncle opted to get a mini-split AC which was cheaper. He saw no need for a full air conditioning replacement, yet he lived alone. The ductless AC system was sound, and for quite some time, our uncle enjoyed his recovery and new home. He loves tending to his backyard garden, and we did our best to make sure he was comfortable. Last week, Uncle Jason walked into the house looking for my dad. He informed him that the mini-split AC system wouldn’t turn on. He’d tried switching on the HVAC unit with the remote control, but nothing was happening. Dad is a trained HVAC technician, so he went over to the house to inspect the situation. Dad noticed that the unit was good. However, the batteries in the remote control were quite old. They replaced the batteries, and the mini-split AC came back to life, much to our uncle’s delight.
