There was plenty of time, so why did he hurry?

I’m not sure what the big deal was, but when the HVAC tech showed up to repair my air conditioner last week, he seemed to be in a huge rush.

Every movement he made was jerky and hasty.

It was like he was on some kind of time limit to get the work done. I watched him from the window for a while when my husband asked what I was looking at. I pointed to the technician and told him that I had never seen anyone so much in a hurry, or so nervous. I truly wasn’t sure what was happening. When my partner looked out, he said the kid looked a bit manic and went outside to see if everything was okay. He sat down next to the kid and started talking to him. I heard him ask how long he had been a HVAC technician. I couldn’t hear what his reply was, but I noticed that he was visibly calming down. A couple minutes later, he was laughing with my husband. He came and told me I should relax. This was the first time the HVAC tech was working by himself. He was nervous and worried about screwing up. Once my husband talked to him and calmed him down, he did a marvelous job on our air conditioning unit. I was really hoping he didn’t start getting nervous again after my husband came into the house. I really didn’t want to have my air conditioning worse than it was before he repaired it. My husband patted my shoulder and told me to relax.
