I have been slowly modernizing my house.

Every room gets an update and color change.

The previous owner definitely was a fan of rustic and cabin feeling. I ripped down wallpaper with chicken on it and plaid curtains. I removed the old brown rugs and added gray tile. I then painted over the beige and did a light blue instead. All the wood is painted white. All the plastic is changed to nickel. I am most proud of my hallway. The hallway went from brown rug to gray tile. The walls went from wood paneling to white. The ceiling changed from popcorn to smooth. I then added recessed lighting and new switch plates. The plastic thermostat was the last to go and the best one to change. The thermostat used a toggle in order to change the temperature. It could only go in the range of 10. So it was either 60, 70 and 80 degrees. My husband bumped it with his shoulder constantly. We now have a smart thermostat. The wifi thermostat has a silver surround and blue innerface. It has a touchscreen and lights up when I walk by it. It visually is beautiful. It functions great too. It has a weekly program that it learns and automatically does. I get alerted to air filter changes, issues with humidity and energy saving tips. It is really nice that I can control it from my phone. I use that feature all the time. It is very nice to control the heat from my bed or when I am at the office.

A boiler can be hooked to heated flooring, a snowmelt system, baseboard heating or be the hot water tank.

I made a huge mistake when I removed my boiler system. When I moved into my home I was disgusted by the boiler. It was big, ugly and took up lots of room. The boiler was in the basement and the heat rose up through metal grates in the ceiling. Then the living room was heated as a result. It was efficient but not attractive. I converd all the grates but the main one in the middle of the floor. Then the boiler didn’t work so well and the house still looked ugly. I thought I was being so smart by removing the boiler system. I covered the last great and added a gas fireplace. The fireplace is gorgeous. It has a wood mantel and a stone surround. It showcases a faux fire with a glass front. It looks great, but my house is always freezing cold. I regret removing that boiler so much. The fireplace is constant work. I clean it and schedule service all the time. It can’t hear my kitchen or attached office anymore. I have been forced to buy space heaters. I read online that boiler systems can live up to 50 years while a fireplace is more like 12. A boiler can be hooked to heated flooring, a snowmelt system, baseboard heating or be the hot water tank. A fireplace is just a weak heating system. So I removed a wonderful, powerful heater and replaced it with the worst option on the market. I am stuck with my fireplace for at least 12 years now. I am not happy about that at all.

For years I have wanted to update my kitchen.

It had laminate floors, a gross sink, old countertops and the cupboards were stained.

I really went hog wild when designing my new space. I shifted the appliances around to get more countertop space. My counters are made out of quartz and my cupboards are real wood. I splurged for tile floors, porcelain backsplash and recessed lighting. I then decided to add HVAC to the space. Our living room has a gas fireplace. It never seems to reach the kitchen and it always feels cold in there. For years I had a space heater plugged into the wall and taking up valuable space. I couldn’t put more cabinets down due to it. In the summer the lack of AC was horrible when I cooked. I decided to spend a little more money to get a quality HVAC unit. I bought a ductless mini split. It mounts on the wall so I can have more lower cabinets. It also has both heating and air conditioning. I don’t need to worry about the fireplace reaching the kitchen in the winter. In the summer I can cook whenever I want and run the cooling system. I am pleased that the ductless HVAC unit is modern and attractive. You hardly notice it on my wall. It doesn’t require a lot of maintenance or work either. Once a year I have a HVAC dealer come over to make sure it works. I feel it is the best part about my new kitchen remodel.

My husband and I are redoing the floors in our house.

He has it in his head that all our floors should be the same.

He wants the living room, kitchen, hallway and bedrooms all to be the same tile. I am not too pleased with it. However, I said if we rip up all the floors we need to do heated flooring. That is the only time this heating system can be placed down. It makes sense to put it in then. My husband is a bit concerned since we live down south and the winter season is short. Why not add a heater? It will add value to our house. Our current HVAC unit is 20 years old. When it dies we can just focus on air conditioning. I like the idea of the heating system being beneath our feet too. The radiant heater is silent in operation. It doesn’t create cold spots either. Since it is electric based rather than air, the heat doesn’t rise and get wasted on the ceiling. Due to this, I could set our home thermostat a little lower and save energy. What is especially nice is that heated flooring warms everything that comes into direct contact with it. That means the couch, loveseat and chair will all feel as a result. It is cleaner, more efficient and a modern way to provide heating. The only cons with this system is that it raises and adds weight to the floors. I am not afraid of that. I feel it is worth installing it.

They are fun & good little pets but they are taxing to keep alive

All of us have had a hedgehog for the last numerous years, & keeping a hedgehog alive might be harder than you might think! When every one of us first got the little critter at a local small critter show several years ago, every one of us never thought that it would become a part of the family the way that it has. I think that a lot of people don’t really think that small critters & rodents can become part of the family, but our little hedgehog easily has. All of us appreciate that little critter & I think that she enjoys us too. It was really taxing to figure out exactly the kind of heating method that every one of us needed to get for her whenever every one of us first got her from the show, though! She is very picky whenever it comes to the temperature in her enclosure & the types of food that she eats, however hedgehogs are really finicky little critters, if you want to think the truth. They are fun & good little pets but they are taxing to keep alive. Whenever every one of us first got her, they told us that every one of us needed to get a little heating mat for her cage, along with a special kind of control component for her cage. I bought the stuff that every one of us needed & every one of us got the hedgehog & took her home, then by the time every one of us finally got everything set up for her in the new cage, the weather was really cooling off & it was a really good thing that every one of us got the heating method set up for her. If every one of us didn’t have it, then she easily would not have been able to survive with us through the winter!

All of us are really going to have to get a replacement heating component for our pond if every one of us don’t want all of our fish to freeze solid in the next couple of months.

It gets super freezing around here, & the last thing that every one of us want to do is freeze our goldfish to death accidentally! All of us appreciate our fish & every one of us have really been enjoying them for the past few months! They are really fun to watch & it’s enjoyable to stand out in the backyard & watch them while I was in the Springtime & summer, but whenever every one of us have sizzling weather outside, that’s where you will always find us.

I appreciate to take my root carona & a book out there on nice Summer afternoons & just stand out there with the fish. Well, since the weather has started cooling down so much lately, I have had to start thinking more & more about my fish & how every one of us are going to take care of them while I was in the winter. I learn about this arena nearby in our neighborhood that is supposed to have all kinds of unusual landscaping device & pond supplies & things appreciate that but obviously they have gone out of company recently, but unluckyly for me, they were no longer available & that was my only choice for pond supplies & heating units for my fish. Without that store, there was really nowhere else in our town that had anything at all that would labor for heating up the pond for the fish. I suppose I am going to have to order a little heating component online for them or something. I would do not care for to lose them over the winter.

I am ecstatic enough with our task, but I’d rather be working as an artist! Art was always our first love, plus back when I was in school I used to suppose that I was going to be an artist! I even considered going to art school a couple of times, but it never legitimately worked out for myself and others for some reason.

I still do art on the side plus on chance I get a paying task.

I do not suppose that I ever would have been able to support myself as an artist, though. I know a lot of people can, but I just do not suppose that I was talented enough to do that, anyway, since I did not suppose that it was going to toil out for myself and others to be an artist, I ended up going to school to get our heating plus cooling certification instead. After school, when I realized that art school just wasn’t going to toil out for me, I signed up at our local technical school plus I went through the heating plus cooling courses. I did legitimately well in those classes plus I genuinely appreciated studying all about heating, cooling, plus ventilation technology. It has been about more than four years now since I started working at 1 of the local heating plus cooling companies here in town, plus I have to say that I legitimately do like our task as an Heating as well as Air Conditioning professional. It is not in the art field at all but it pays the bills plus I like all of the people that I toil with plus our customers.

Mia was due to travel back home before winter.

She had been away on business trying to land a huge international client.

This is an opportunity that had landed on her lap a while back thanks to one of her social media posts. The client saw it and requested Mia to fly to Europe to pitch her idea in person. This was the beginning of the best experience of her life. It turns out her client is a member of a monarch and lives in a castle. Mia didn’t stay in a hotel while there, but she went to stay at the castle where the customer had a guest place ready. The whole place was like living in some fairy tale novel, and the deal was so successful that Mia was dazed when she got back home. However, the trip took several months, and Mia only got back in the middle of winter. Her home location was freezing and Mia had to turn on her furnace when she arrived at her house. She knew this wasn’t the best idea since she was yet to get heating maintenance. However, it was too cold not to switch on the furnace. Mia then proceeded to contact the local heating business to come do heating maintenance in her home. They didn’t mind that it was in the middle of winter. The heating expert sent to Mia’s house actually said there was no problem, and they can do heating maintenance even in the middle of winter. There wasn’t much that needed to be done with the furnace since Mia kept it in good condition. All the heating expert had to do was clean it and change the air filter before it got the green light.

Stella is one of those amazing friends who would never want anything bad to happen to you.

When we met back in college, I was going through a tough time back at home and acting out. One night we were at a party and I got so high that I wasn’t even aware what was happening around me. Some boys tried to take advantage of that, but Stella stopped them. She stayed with me until I was sober then gave me the biggest lecture of my life. Since then we became close friends and have always looked out for each other. We were both attending college to become HVAC professionals. Our class had many guys, and we were the only ladies in the bunch. But, we managed to excel and land great jobs as HVAC professionals after college. Getting a HVAC certification isn’t easy because there’s so much to learn. But, if you are determined, there is nothing you can’t do even in a male dominated field. The other day, Stella and I were talking since she was away attending a HVAC conference. I was telling her about my day’s assignment which included upgrading HVAC ductwork. It seems the customer had taken too long to contact us for ductwork cleaning and repair. Now, she was experiencing cold spots all over the place because of gaps and leaks in the ductwork. Plus, the air was so bad because there was so much dirt and dust up there.
