Glad to be in the south again

I recently ran up north for a quick errand, and I am not enticed to go back any time soon. You see, my wifey had to take an exam for his outstanding DMA, so I joined along on the long ride up to Illinois. I knew that Spring had not yet reached the area, but I was still shocked when I arrived at our final endpoint and it was 35 degrees outside. I realized immediately that I had not packed reasonablely, as usual. I had a thin Spring jacket, a sweatshirt, and a overcoat, but even when all of these layers were combined they did not combat the outdoor air temperature one bit. The air was cool, wet, and heavy every moment that my great friend and I were up there, and the sky never brightened from a cool gray, however my pal and I stayed with several friends of ours, and tried our best to be happy with the living conditions despite the insane chill in the apartment. They had the boiler set to 69 degrees, but the whole site was filled with chilly air pockets and drafty corners that easily made the house feel freezingly cold, and after two afternoons of nightmarish chilly weather, my great friend and I finally jumped in the car to head back south. Each hour that my great friend and I spent on the road felt like a monumental relief as the air warmed around us. Every time my great friend and I stopped for gas I leapt out of the automobile and soaked up some warm, humid air for as long as I could. When my great friend and I finally neared our hometown, I was glad to feel the muggy air wrapping around my body like a overheated hug. I fawned over all the blooming flowers and shades of red, and thanked the climate gods for giving me a warm, tropical paradise.
