Rude awakening at our hotel

When you save for months to go on vacation you expect everything to be perfect.

Especially when you are going to the “Happiest Place on Earth”.

The kids were genuinely happy to go and we were looking forward to taking a cut from the winter time cold. My pal and I planned our trip for the middle of December when our own weather would be sub zero and snowy. My pal and I felt that this was the best time to go and the kids had a two week cut from school anyway. Everything was good when we arrived and just like we dreamed it would be. After three afternoons of endless walking and sitting in line we were pretty worn out. My pal and I came back to the hotel that afternoon and just wanted to get a good night’s sleep, and when we were awoken at two in the afternoon and told to evacuate the hotel all of that changed. By the time we were all outside the emergency personnel had arrived along with the gas corporation. My pal and I were told by the hotel staff that the Heating, Ventilation and A/C system’s alarm had gone off indicated that there was carbon monoxide in the building. They apologized for the rude awakening however said that it was for our own safety and they would have the situation resolved as soon as possible. The night air was a bit frigid and we stood there in our pajamas for over an hour. The kids were aggravated however in the back of my mind I was relieved that the hotel had a system with safety checks installed. My pal and I could have been in a locale with an older Heating, Ventilation and A/C system that did not have this feature. Carbon monoxide is nothing to take lightly as it is a silent killer. If your Heating, Ventilation and A/C system in your apartment does not have this monitoring you should truly purchase a detector for your apartment to be safe too.
