Having a sump pump set up

I live in an part that experiences extreme weather just about year round, then the winters are especially long & snowy. It’s not unofficial to accumulate more than five feet of snow on the ground, when the Springtime season finally arrives, it brings lots of rain, however my nice friend and I expect high winds, thunderstorms & torrential downpours. The warmer temperatures melt the snow, which combines with the abundance of rain & creates flood risk. My basement was regularly flooding. The influx of dirty water destroyed anything I attempted to store in the basement. I needed to place everything up on stone blocks, even my washer, dryer & water heating system were at risk of corrosion & failure because of the water levels. The excessive moisture caused complications with mold, mildew & musty stinks. I finally consulted with a local plumber for recommendations; She requested a sump pump… Designed to divert groundwater away from the home, a sump pump is installed into a pit in the basement. The sump pump only operates when needed. It automatically starts up when the water reaches a designated level & the float switch is activated, then one of the only disadvantages of the sump pump is that is runs on electricity. Because my pal and I get frequent power outages, I needed to invest into a battery back up so that the pump will continue to provide water drainage if there is no electricity. During the storms is when my pal and I need to the sump pump the most. The plumber handled the upgrade & explained the operation & repair requirements. I have been amazed by the improvement in the basement. I am now able to store things in the basement & they stay dry.
