The castle had no kind of furnace.

I had always wanted to go to Ireland, where our ancestors came from, after the two of us retired, our hubby and I finally got to take the getaway of our dreams… Both of us had made plans to stay in an aged castle that had been converted into an Air BNB.

The castle had no formal furnace, however there were fireplaces in every room, then every morning, someone would come into the rooms and kneel fresh wood in the fireplace to keep the heat in the room.

They would give more wood to the rooms throughout the day… Occasionally it got cold, and no 1 however the guests seemed to notice. Both of us were told that being raised in the castle meant that everyone was used to the drafts. I could only imagine what it was like living in the castles in the olden afternoons. It must have been taxing to keep moderate since most of the turrets didn’t have glass at the windows. I was walking through the castle 1 day, and had gotten turned around. I heard an odd noise coming from the hallway and realized there were air vents in the walls. There was heat coming from the air vents, and I got more curious. I asked 1 woman I passed in the hall where the gas furnace was located… She told me there were more than two heating systems in the castle. One was in a centralized gas furnace room on each floor. So much for the castle having no formal furnace. The fireplaces were only for the guests. Both of us were paying for the castle experience, while everyone else had current heating systems to keep them warm.
