Shorter days
It is that time of the year when the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder.
In the daytime hours I no longer have to use my central air conditioning.
However at night I have to turn on the central heating because it is getting cold out. With the days getting shorter, by around 6pm I need to turn on the central heating system because the house starts to get chilly. This actually raises my electric bill but I really do not have a choice in the matter unless I want me and my family to freeze our tails off. So I pay the extra in energy bills. Someone did suggest to me that I should get a few portable space heaters for my home and just run them instead of the central heating system. I thought about it, and although that would put an end to the high energy bills, it gets so cold at night that I do not think a few portable space heaters would warm up the house enough. Even with the extremely powerful portable space heaters that they make today. Sure maybe a portable space heater would work to warm up the bedroom or a small room like that, but not the larger areas of the house like the living room. There is no space heater in the world that could heat my living room like central heating can do. So portable space heaters are not the answer for me and my family. I do like this time of the year though because I hate hot summer days and nights.
