The boss has a child and he is a complete jerk
I have been working for the same Heating and Air Conditioning repair supplier for the last 5 years.
During that time, I never knew that the boss had a son.
The boss never talked about the guy, despite the fact that he never talked much about his family at all. Every 1 of us were surprised when the guy started working at the repair business. The people I was with and I did not guess what to expect. I got stuck working with that guy during the first week. He was very lazy and rude. He did not work very strenuous and he did not have as much knowledge about Heating and Air Conditioning repairs as he should. The guy did not seem very interested in reading more about heating or a/c repairs. He did not listen to any advice I tried to provide and 1 time he apparently disregarded what I said in front of a customer. The guy is a ticking time bomb with zero customer service skills. My boss wanted an upgrade on his progress at the end of the day. I could not tell our boss the truth, although I did not want to lie and tell him that he did a fantastic task. I tried not to say much at all, but our boss very wanted me to tell him the truth. I sugar-coated it, although I let our boss guess that his child was not ready to work on heating and a/c repairs separate from someone else. My boss thanked me for our honesty, but the next month I only had 30 hours instead of 40 and his child was still on the schedule every day.
