Avoid HVAC scams and dishonest technicians by reading bad reviews online

Before I make a purchase, go see a movie, or go to a restaurant or a hotel, I read most of the bad reviews.

  • The internet is a wonderful resource because it could potentially save you from bad experiences.

I purposely read the bad reviews because I would prefer to make my decision based on them. You’ve heard the saying that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Therefore, if I notice that there are an enormous amount of bad reviews, it will tell me that there are some weak links, so I will skip over that purchase. I follow this method when I try to find handymen or HVAC service technicians for my home. The last HVAC technician that I found online had no bad reviews. In fact, most people gave him a 5 star rating, and he had over 500 reviews that were written. Therefore, I didn’t hesitate to hire him to service my HVAC unit. He lived up to every good review that I read online, and I felt obligated to submit my own review. However, not all HVAC technicians in my area have such a high rating, in fact, I read some horror stories online where the homeowners felt like they were part of an HVAC scam. Most of these dishonest practices included overcharging for parts and service or replacing parts that were not needed, so that they could get more money from the homeowner. There is no sure way of avoiding HVAC scams or dishonest technicians, but with some research as well as reading their bad online reviews, that could certainly save a homeowner some headache.
