It is lonely being the owner of the HVAC company
It is definitely pretty lonely being the owner of the HVAC company.
Sometimes, I honestly miss being just another HVAC technician. There was a comrade in working with a group of HVAC technicians that you miss out on when you are the owner of the HVAC company. When I first made the decision to start my own HVAC company, I never even considered the possibility that something like this might happen. I figured that everything would remain relatively the same besides the fact that I was the owner of the HVAC company. In the old HVAC company where I worked as a normal HVAC technician, I had a bunch of friends. There were a handful of HVAC technicians that I worked with, and we were all very close. We worked with each other nearly every day, and we laughed and spent time together. These HVAC technicians felt like my best friends. When I went to start my own HVAC company, I was sad to leave these HVAC technicians, but I figured that I would develop new friendships with new HVAC technicians. However, unfortunately, it did not work out that way. I have hired a bunch of great HVAC technicians, but none of us are really that close, but I know why. Unfortunately, the relationship between employer and employee makes it very hard to be friends with the HVAC technicians. Sure, we can be friendly, but the difference in the relationship makes it hard to be friends with any of them. This means that while I am making a lot more by owning my own HVAC company, I am definitely a lot more lonely than I thought that I would be.
