Our boss showed his appreciation.

I slept through the alarm this morning and I didn’t get to eat my breakfast.

I barely had time to take a shower and shave.

I actually would have skipped the shower, but I worked in the yard last night and I suppose that I smelled bad. By the time I got to my job at the HVAC maintenance and repair business, I was a few minutes behind schedule. I wasn’t the only guy running late, so the boss didn’t take time to yell at anyone. There were just 22 HVAC service calls on the schedule for the day. Usually the bus schedules 35 to 40 jobs, and I was surprised and worried. For a brief moment, I thought a few of us might get fired or laid off! Actually, the owner of the HVAC maintenance and repair business had a huge surprise for all of the employees. They arranged for everyone to take two hours at lunch time so everyone could reconvene at the shop. The owner of the HVAC maintenance and repair business bought pizza for everyone in the company. Everyone was supposed to finish working at 11 so we could all be back at the shop for lunch at noon, my coworker and I had two oil furnace repairs scheduled for the morning and we finished just before 11. The two of us were pulling into the parking lot at the same time as the pizza company. The owner bought 25 big pies with pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms. He also had plenty of salad, garlic rolls, and a variety of soda, lemonade, and other drinks. It was a nice way to say thank you for all of our hard work and loyalty this quarter.
