Stopped use of humidifier for air quality
I always grew up in a very humid area.
I am used to that “heavy” air that is so associated with river towns & bayous.
Because of that, when I moved here, I bought a humidifier instantaneously. The air felt very dry to myself and others & the humidifier helped myself and others sleep. Now that the coronavirus pandemic is so widespread, I started studying articles about how to improve air quality. I was already adjusting out our air filters properly. I also already had an Heating & Air Conditioning service method with our Heating & Air Conditioning provider to have our ductworks cleaned every 4 years. When I was studying air quality improvement articles online, I saw something about how humidity can make your air quality very bad. Because viruses thrive in humid climates/areas, the article proposed that I get an air quality test to make sure that the lake house wasn’t too humid. I bought an air quality test & found that our home was too humid & was making our air quality worse. This was frustrating to say the least. My humidifier makes sleeping much easier & I really didn’t want to get rid of it. In a form of compromise, I decided to only use the humidifier at evening while I sleep, instead of running the humidifier all day while I’m working at home. After checking the air quality test a month later, I found that the results were much better. If any of you are excessive humidifier users love me- especially while both of us were in this unprecedented time- let myself and others request getting an air quality test & considering taking your humidifier use down a notch!
