What are the best energy saving tips for the spring and summer?
Ok, so last winter I made a post about some of the best energy saving tips for the winter regarding your heating and cooling system.
I talked about things such as utilizing space heaters when you can, keeping your thermostat set to 68 degrees Fahrenheit at the most, things like that.
We also discussed the importance of furnace filters as well as some more complicated solutions such as exchanging your furnace for a boiler or heat pump depending on your situation. Well, as you may have noticed, the sun has finally come out and we are into the spring season. It’s time for grill outs, hangouts, and the good old air conditioner to start making their appearances again. As you also may have noticed, we’re in the middle of a global pandemic. While grill outs and hangouts might come to a halt, that air conditioner is going to be working overtime. So, what are some energy saving tips for the spring and summer months? I have a few that I think will be helpful for you. Number one with cooling, just like we discussed with heating, get a smart thermostat. These programmable thermostats help you keep your cost low by allowing you to use the thermostats to keep your house warmer while you’re away. You might not be out as much as you normally would, but I still recommend a smart thermostat. Another thing is making sure your ductwork is clean by regularly scheduling ductwork cleanings and changing your air filters monthly. Finally, ductless mini split air conditioning is my favorite option and what I have at my own home. Mini split air conditioning lasts a lifetime and it’s ductless. Those are just some quick energy saving tips, let me know if I missed something or if you have questions!
