New manager ruined my work with thermostat
There are few things as concerning as a working adult as watching your company’s management change hands.
I have been employed with the same publishing company for over 10 years, and really loved the position.
Every day I strolled into work, sa down in my comfortable office, and chatted with my awesome coworkers. I was close with the managers and supervisors, and we all worked really well together. Then everything changed. The company was bought out and new administration was put into place. Unfortunately, they were tasked with cutting operational costs, and soon all of our office perks were annihilated. The first thing to go was our awesome temperature control. We used to have a democratic system of adjusting the indoor air temperature to make everyone happy. The office was always perfectly heated or air conditioned, and I rarely had a single complaint about the working conditions. These new bigwigs rolled in and ruined that entirely. They replaced our office thermostat with a centrally-managed temperature control system right off the batt. Now our building is heated or cooled according to the specifications of some distant office, rather than the people who actually experience the indoor temperature and air quality. It is constantly freezing cold or burning hot in there, because they don’t want to operate the HVAC system more than necessary. Morale has taken a huge turn for the worse, and it seems like a massive employee turnover is coming. The only thing that might save us at this point is a more reasonable temperature control plan for the office.
