Heated floors is causing tank to overheat
I could just put the heat lamp and UV lamp in a corner of the living room
I love that this new apartment has underfloor heating. It is so nice and comfortable for me. However, it is also posing a bit of a problem. You see, I have a pet bearded dragon lizard. Yes, lizards love the heat. My bearded dragon loves running around on the warm floor. The only problem is that I keep his tank on the floor too. I do this so that he can easily get in and out of the tank himself. However, with the heated floors, the tank is getting way too hot. Glass traps the heat and it turns into an oven. Even though I turned off the bearded dragon’s heat lamp it is still getting over 100 degrees in the tank. I tried putting cement blocks under the tank to lift it off of the floor a little bit but now the lizard can’t get in or out by himself. Also, a few inches separating the tank from the heated floor does not seem to be enough. The tank is still getting really hot. I think I am going to have to get a tank stand to put the tank on. Then it will be a good 3 feet from the heated floor. This should solve the overheating issue. Then I will just have to make a ramp or something so that the bearded dragon can still run around the house when he wants and bask under his heat lamps when he wants. Another thought is to just get rid of the tank all together. I could just put the heat lamp and UV lamp in a corner of the living room. I don’t know. But I will figure it out.
