Why should I have my boiler serviced
We installed our hot water boiler almost twenty five years ago.
At the time it was one of the most efficient ones on the market but I am concerned that we need to either replace it or, at the very least, have it serviced.
My husband is one of those people who feels that if it isn’t broken we shouldn’t mess with it. I am of the frame of mind that a little bit of attention could prevent a big problem. I know that there are no filters to be changed but there are supply pipes, a pilot, and the holding tank that should be inspected to make sure there is no corrosion or leaks. My husband bleeds the lines every other year or so but I would just feel better if a qualified technician were to check things out. I am also interested in learning about newer models that may be more efficient than the one we have now. HVAC technology has come a long way in the past twenty five years and it wouldn’t hurt to see what is available. We may be able to save significantly on our overall energy costs and that would really be nice. They may come out and tell us that everything is fine and that we should just keep what we have, but they may have changes that would benefit us too. My husband is still very much against this idea but I will keep working on him or have someone come while he is at work. If I have the information for him to read maybe he will see things differently.
