Keeping my eye on the HVAC demand

That was a big plus because it alleviates having to constantly patrol and monitor the thermostat setting.

For me, there is no shame at all in finding any way to rein in our spending. This is almost a full time job for me. It’s just Spence when it comes to Simply Having family these days. My wife and I both work, make good salaries but we just haven’t been able to save like we should. One thing we won’t be draining our finances on any longer is the heating and cooling costs associated with HVAC equipment. I have finally gotten committed to an HVAC savings strategy. Commitment is the key word here. I sort of tried to hold the line on HVAC utility costs in the past. But, I either gave up too quickly, forgot or just didn’t care. That led right back to wasting money on HVAC cooling particularly in the summer. But not anymore now that I’ve actually gotten proactive and put it all together for once. I started by really sealing up our house. I even replaced weather stripping and insulation. Then I went outside and sealed up every possible gap I could find that would let HVAC cooling outside. This was the key to saving on air conditioning. Additionally, I had the HVAC company install a smart thermostat. That was a big plus because it alleviates having to constantly patrol and monitor the thermostat setting. This smart thermostat keeps a consistent heating and cooling level throughout the house. This summer alone, I saved almost 20% over last summer on HVAC utility costs. That’s a pretty remarkable turn around if you ask me. Now I’m excited to see just what I can do with the heating costs this winter!
