After much contemplation and discussion, my wife and I decided to move to the South and retire.
- It was a difficult move to make, because we had to sell our home.
My kids were grown up and had lives of their own and my wife and I were ready for the next step. I thought one of the kids might want to buy the house and fix it up, but none of them wanted to move back to the suburbs. They were happy living in the city with the nightlife, bars, museums, and restaurants. We put the house on the market as soon as we made the decision. We received an offer on the house a couple of weeks later. It was a little lower than our asking price, but it was a good offer and they didn’t ask us to do any additional work in the home. We took the deal and sold our home 45 days later. My wife and I moved to a small retirement community down South. We have lots of amenities like a sauna, swimming pool, and hot tub. Each one of the condos is equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and equipment. We don’t even need to worry about the appliances, because everything is cared for by the condo association. When we had an issue with the AC, we called the association and they sent an AC technician to check on the problem. We didn’t have to worry about paying for the AC repair or finding a repair service. All of these fees are built into the monthly living price for the condo. It’s a really good deal for a retired person.
