Maybe I should have listened to my dad.
Even before I graduated from high school, I was trying to decide what I was going to do with my life.
Did I want to go to college? Did I want to go to a technical school? I even considered not continuing my education, and doing an apprenticeship with one of the local professionals. I said down at my desk and started making a list of the pros and cons on every decision I may end up making. The only thing I kept coming back to was going to technical school. Now my decision had to be what career I want to take at the technical school. They had classes for electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians, but I was unsure about any of them. I talked to mom and dad about what I should do. Dad told me I had to decide based on what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Mom thought plumbing was a good idea, since her brother was a plumber and could give me a job. I followed what mom said, but after two years, I was sure I should have listened to my dad. I should’ve followed my intuition and become an HVAC technician. The only good thing about being a plumber and learning HVAC technicalities was that with radiant heated flooring, I could do most of the work myself. Maybe once I’m done with HVAC technical school, I should continue classes and become an electrician. It didn’t matter what job came up in any home; I am ready to go to work.
