Renting a location without central a/c
When all of us decided to plan a surprise anniversary celebration for our parents, our oldest sister volunteered to take care of the guest list, invitations & hiring a live band.
My other sister gave to handle the catering & flowers.
This left myself and others with nothing to do but book a location. As the youngest, our sisters don’t expect much from me. They constantly guess I’m going to mess things up. I was determined to prove them wrong. I made a list of the amenities that were necessary for the location I chose. I looked for a location that could handle our guest list, supply plenty of parking & include a dance floor. I wanted an indoor & outdoor area, string lights, really accessible parking, comfortable seating & a bar area. I put in tons of research, toured the odd options & spoke with all of the directors about pricing & available dates. Unfortunately, I timed all our visits while in the Springtime when the weather was mild. My mom & dad’s anniversary celebration was tied up for the end of June. The two of us experienced unusually tepid & humid weather, with hot & cold temperatures in the low nineties. While all of us were setting up the decorations & flowers, the location was horribly hot & sticky. I had no luck finding the control machine to crank up the a/c. I finally asked the property director about lowering the temperature & was told that the location is not equipped with central a/c. Although all of us left the doors & windows open & ran box fans, the conditioners were uncomfortably hot. My mom & dad assured myself and others that it wasn’t a problem. Both our sisters were unhappy with me.
