But it ended up costing me hundreds of dollars that night
I live a life that has near instant karma. This is both a good thing & a bad thing. It’s good that I don’t have a bunch of accountability hanging over my head for dumb or awful choices. But man, I make a mistake or something & I get the swift reaction. Like this past fall, I kept meaning to call for the Heating & Air Conditioning service. Normally, I like to have the Heating & Air Conditioning contractor come out & do the heating service in November. Turned out that this fall was recognizably intense & I let the Heating & Air Conditioning service slip through the cracks. And when I did finally remember again after Thanksgiving, I rationalized that all of us could take a year without Heating & Air Conditioning service on the gas oil furnace. Well, hello karma once again. I was sound asleep during one of the coldest days of the year. It was just after midnight when I was awakened by a bad thud in the basement. I knew, certainly instinctively, that it was the gas oil furnace. By the time I got to the basement, I found the oil furnace shut down & hissing almost because it was so hot. Like I said, it was bitter, bitter cold & no space furnace was going to keep the condo warm. I had no choice but to call for emergency Heating & Air Conditioning service. The Heating & Air Conditioning repairman on call was honestly good actually. He had a super attitude for someone who had been called out on such a wickedly cold night. Turns out, the problem with the oil furnace would have been caught with normal Heating & Air Conditioning service. But it ended up costing me hundreds of dollars that night. This is what I mean by instant karma.
