My dog controls the thermostat

Sometimes I wonder who is really in charge of our household, and don’t get me wrong, I am the oldest, most responsible, and most financially involved human being in this home.

  • However, it sure seems like everybody else calls the shots around here.

I don’t mean to be dramatic, however even the dog has more stay in our household conditions than I do. I think you might think that I’m exaggerating, but wait until you hear about the way that she reacts to our indoor air temperature control devices since the day we brought her home. The trouble all started when we adopted a puppy in the middle of the summer, and of course, it was brutally hot and humid outside so we had to spend a great deal of time indoors with the air conditioning system blasting. I really did not want to overheat my little puppy by laying in the Sun and causing her to become dehydrated. Instead, we created a play area downstairs and made sure that all of the air vents were wide open so that our high-quality air conditioning method could produce enough cool air to the space for her, and unfortunately, our puppy suddenly grew into a dog and our dog suddenly became accustomed to the non-stop air conditioning. It has been many years since we all adopted our dog, and at this point she is in charge of the heating, cooling, and air quality control system. Every time I attempt to increase the indoor air temperature there is a barking disaster, but at this point, I can’t even look at the thermostat without her switching into guard dog mode.
