Old cabin gets new HVAC

There is nothing quite like getting out into nature to reset my system.

I’m just really lucky to have access to a remote cabin that has been in my family for generations.

It’s only a few hours drive from where I live and work. But it feels like an entirely different realm. I spend so much of my week inside a perfectly HVAC controlled office. My work is both intense and quite time consuming. There isn’t much time during the week for anything but working, family and sleeping. So I turn to the cabin to reenergize my batteries. And it never fails me. Actually, I tend to go up there year round. There is a small wood stove that serves as the heating method. It makes the house nice and cozy once you get the fire going. However, it’s hard for me to get the family up there in the dead of winter or the middle of summer. While the cabin does have electricity, running water and indoor plumbing, there is no modern HVAC. And it’s really hard to get the family out of the modern HVAC at home when it’s really cold or really hot. So I talked it over with my parents, uncles, aunts and cousins to gauge whether or not they would mind if I upgraded the cabin with some real HVAC. At first, there was some questions because they didn’t want the cabin’s essence changed with a big HVAC unit. But I showed them the ductless heating & cooling unit I wanted to install and that changed everything. It wouldn’t make much of an impact other than comfort. So we are headed for HVAC in the cabin.
