The Window AC Unit Gives Me Issues In My Office

Like everyone else in the area, I’ve been forced to leave my job at the office and move all my belongings into a makeshift office at home.

Thankfully, I had an extra bedroom to transform into an office unlike other people.

There’s several people from my office who have been working from their bedrooms or kitchen tables, which I think sounds miserable. We take so many phone calls that there’s some privacy needed. I have several children who are virtually learning at home, so I could never trust them to be quiet during important work phone calls in my kitchen. The home office I created for myself is great, but there’s one setback. We don’t have central AC in our house. Instead, we have box AC units that sit in the windows. There’s one in my office, but it’s loud and I constantly need to manage it. The room isn’t large, so it doesn’t take long for the AC window unit to cool the space. There’s only one space to put my desk in the room, which means the cold air is constantly blowing on me when the AC kicks on. The worst part is when I’m trying to take a phone call because the window unit kicks on and it’s extremely loud. I’ve had several clients tell me that they couldn’t hear me due to the AC in the background. I have to sit in my sweat during long calls because I’m embarrassed by my AC system! I wish I knew how long this pandemic was going to last because I really want to upgrade my AC unit before summer arrives.
