It wasn’t such a bad day after all.
The two of us were pulling into the parking lot at the same time as the pizza dealer
I slept right through the alarm this morning and I didn’t get to eat any breakfast. I barely had time to take a shower and shave. I truly would have skipped the shower, but I worked in the yard last night and I know that I probably smelled bad. By the time I got to my job at the HVAC service and supply business, I was a few minutes behind schedule. I wasn’t the only person running late, so the boss didn’t take time to yell at anyone. And there were only 22 HVAC repair tasks on the schedule for the day, and usually the bus schedules 30 to 35 tasks. I was concerned and upset. For a brief moment, I thought a few of us might get fired or laid off. Actually, the owner of the HVAC business had a surprise for all of the employees. They arranged for all the people to take a whole two hours at lunch time so all the people could reconvene at the shop. The owner of the HVAC business bought pizza for all the people in the company. Everyone was supposed to finish working at 11 so that we could all be back for supper at noon. My job partner and I had several gas furnace repairs in the morning, but we finished just before 11. The two of us were pulling into the parking lot at the same time as the pizza dealer. The owner bought 25 big pies with pepperoni, sausage, and ham. He also had plenty of salad, garlic rolls, and a variety of soda, lemonade, and other drinks. It was a nice way to say thank you for all of our hard work this month..
