Over the last three weeks, we have had six days in the nineties. The humidity was low, so my partner didn’t feel it was necessary to turn on the air conditioner. I told him I could not survive in the home if the A/C wasn’t turned on. After being told I should quit complaining, I had enough. He told me the weather forecaster said he didn’t have his air conditioner on. He had window air conditioner units and wasn’t planning on installing the A/C units until it got into the mid-nineties. I could not believe he was talking about the weather forecaster and not worrying about my comfort. I called in to the news station and asked how hot it had to be before turning the air conditioner on. The person who answered the phone thought I was joking, however I assured her I was not. I told her about my partner going by what their weather forecaster said, and he didn’t feel we needed an air conditioner yet. She laughed. I could not believe she laughed. I called the heating and cooling contractor and asked them to come in and turn on the air conditioner unit. I didn’t know how to turn it on, and I didn’t care what it cost. I would deal with my partner when he got home, and if he got too irritated, I would move back with my parents.

I walked to work one day, and all my energy was zapped. It was so hot and humid outside that I could barely breathe. I was smiling only because I knew when I got inside the building, the air conditioner would be working and I would be cool and comfortable again. Unfortunately, I walked into the building and it was more humid inside than outside. I asked the service guy when they were going to repair the air conditioner, and he shrugged. I went into the HR office and told her our working conditions were horrible, and they needed to repair the air conditioner, and she shrugged and said it would be fixed when the new contractor owner gave her the go-ahead. I caused the new contractor owner to comment and knew it was time to go. If they wouldn’t allow us to have excellent heating and cooling in our building, or had to feel about having the air conditioner repaired, it wasn’t somewhere where I wanted to work. They didn’t care about their employees..An hour later, I had sweat running between my shoulder blades, and my blouse was wet. I saw many people falling asleep at their desks, because of the lack of air conditioning. I packed up my desk and was heading out of the office when the head of HR stopped me. She said the heating and cooling professional would be there in less than an hour.

I knew I needed a new thermostat when I had to change the batteries twice last year.

It’s only May, and I am changing the batteries again.

I bought new batteries, wondering if my batteries were old and unable to hold a charge for honestly long. When the batteries were still dying, I knew it was the thermostat. My wife wasn’t sure if we should get the same thermostat, or a different type. He was talking about Nest thermostats and smart thermostats. I thought my digital thermostat was fine, although he wanted to upgrade. I told him to buy a new thermostat that was digital and programmable. It wasn’t like we made the choice to go somewhere that we needed to keep a watch on at home for more than a few hours. we didn’t have a Google account for the Nest thermostat. I knew I could not talk him out of the smart thermostat if he had a choice. He had listened to our kid talk about his smart thermostat, and Michael made it sound like it was the gold standard of thermostats. I talked to my husband and tried to explain that we didn’t need anything as elaborate as a smart thermostat. It wasn’t until Michael told him he traveled a lot for work, which is why he wanted the smart thermostat, that he considered buying one. My husband shrugged and said he guessed he would just get the boring digital, programmable thermostat. He ordered the thermostat through the heating and cooling contractor instead of buying one at the home center, however at least he bought a modern thermostat.

 

 

New contractor

We had a brief heatwave a couple of weeks ago, however it was a hint at what we were going to experience this summer.

I didn’t like it, and I told my husband we had to get our new air conditioner machine soon.

He told me it was just a fluke, and it would be a couple of months before Summer set in. I didn’t want to wait much longer. It is now the middle of May and in our area, when Memorial Day arrives, it is like someone flips a switch. It goes from Springtime to Summer overnight. My husband thought we had plenty of time to get the new air conditioner unit, however I wasn’t sure, and yesterday, we had another one day heat wave. It was so hot. I swore my eggs were cooking just kneeling on the counter. I would not wait any longer. I picked up the phone and called the heating and cooling contractor. I told them I needed a new air conditioner machine and proposed they send someone out so they could help me change one out. The next day, I was going through the process of choosing a new air conditioner. I picked out a machine with SEER over 20, and it was sizable enough to keep my entire home cool while saving on energy. My husband didn’t even notice when he got home from work a week later. He said he didn’t notice much difference with the air conditioner on or off. I was sure he was just being mean, unless he was just irritated that I bought the A/C machine without talking to him.

Being a heating and cooling professional puts me into a lot of different situations, but usually I go with the flow and never worry about it. The only thing I am wary of is being in the dark. I have been afraid of the dark since I was little and my brother locked me in a closet to play ball with his friends. My parents found me three hours later, when they got home from work. I know it sounds crazy, however I never got over that incident. Whenever it is totally dark, I have panic attacks. I hate this happening, however there is little I can do about it. Every time I need to go into a basement to work on a heater, I hope no one turns the lights out. I work quickly, however efficiently, hoping the lights don’t go out. Last month, I was working on a heater when the power went out. I knew there was a storm raging outside, and it was lightning. I knew it was possible the power would go out, so I worked on the heater, praying the entire time the power wouldn’t go out. My prayers didn’t work that way. The lights went out, and I was stuck in the dark. I could feel the panic start. There were people upstairs talking, and I wondered if they remembered I was downstairs. Two minutes later, the door opened, and I could see light filtering down the steps. I told them I was fine, however I would need to come back and finish the heater when the power was restored.

I knew there was something wrong with the air conditioner machine even before I had the heating and cooling professional do the inspection, however he told me he had to order the parts, which I was perfectly fine with. He said he would order the A/C parts, and the next week he would come back and install them. When he installed the new parts, the air conditioner still didn’t work. He seemed surprised the A/C was still broken, He told me he was going to have a colleague come look at the air conditioner unit, however I asked if I was going to need to pay extra, although he said it would all be part of the original repair call, and the second heating and cooling professional arrived and he said I needed a fan motor. They ordered the fan motor and returned the next day to install it. The fan motor worked, however I still wasn’t getting a good air conditioner. They both looked lost and wanted to call another heating and cooling professional. I told them if the air conditioner wasn’t repaired this time. I was going to hire another heating and cooling contractor and I would contact the owner of their heating and cooling contractor. The third heating and cooling professional arrived and hit the reset switch. Within seconds the air conditioner machine was running and there was cool air coming from the air vent. When the first heating and cooling professional turned off the power, he forgot to hit the reset switch. I wasn’t excited when they tried to make me pay for three heating and cooling professionals and all those parts, when the reset switch hadn’t been touched.

When I decided to get in better physical shape, I knew that I needed to join a gym.

I didn’t have the space in my home to set up exercise equipment.

The weather in my local area rarely allows outdoor activities. Plus, I had no idea of how to go about a training regiment. I researched the local gyms online. I was able to complete the entire registration process through a form on their website. I took a virtual tour of the facilities and was really excited by the many amenities. The fitness center provides an indoor track, group classes, punching bags, free weights, rowing machines, treadmills, ellipticals and so much more. Before my first trip to the gym, I went out and bought a collection of athletic attire and a new pair of sneakers. I felt fully prepared. When I actually headed to the fitness center, I became very intimidated. The other gym members looked extremely knowledgeable and comfortable. I had no clue how to properly use the machines. I worried about embarrassing myself and potentially getting hurt. I chose to use the stationary bike because it seemed very simple. I pedaled the bike for an entire hour. Afterward, my legs were quite sore, but I felt good about the calories I burned. For several months, I strictly rode the stationary bike. Eventually, I gained the confidence to try out the treadmill. I paid close attention to how other people operated the machines. Since then, I’ve utilized all of the different machines and equipment. I visit the gym at least four times per week and always spend at least an hour there.

I debated for a very long time over whether or not I wanted to convert my home’s water heating to tankless.

This modern alternative can only heat a certain amount of water at a time. If I wanted to run the dishwasher, washing machine and shower simultaneously, the temperature of the water would probably fluctuate because the heater is attempting to supply all three locations at once. My children are now adults with homes and families of their own. With just my husband and I requiring hot water, I wasn’t overly worried about needing to run multiple appliances at the same time. There are many benefits associated with tankless water heating. Rather than a gigantic tank taking up space in the basement, the unit is about the size of a small suitcase and mounts on the wall. Because it heats water as needed, there is no issue with water sitting in a tank and potentially absorbing harmful toxins. We also avoid the expense of standby energy losses. The water is not being reheated multiple times throughout the day. There is no chance of a ruptured tank and a flooded basement. When we turn on a faucet, the water passes through a heat exchanger and is heated to the desired temperature immediately. We are never required to wait for the water to heat up and we never run short of hot water. The superior energy efficiency reduces monthly bills and helps to offset the startup investment. Plus, we can expect the tankless water heater to last nearly twice as long as a conventional tank.

Now that my friends are living together, I am overjoyed for them.

I had no idea that so soon after Tucker met Lizzy, flames would start to fly.

They are my friends, but they weren’t acquainted at the time. Tucker was a friend from school, and Lizzy was my neighbor from middle school. After we graduated, my friend and I all lived in the same town, and I would meet them separately. One day, I thought about having a small anniversary party and inviting the two of them. Tucker was very open about my school life, and Lizzy shared some of my awkward middle school anecdotes. Despite my shame, I was glad to see them getting along and that they are now a couple. I’m not sure how I did it, but I consented to purchasing a house with a flat roof.

I’ve always been afraid of flat roofs and thought they required a lot of maintenance.

But a neighbor informed me that was in the past and that modern roofing technology is much better. After a few visits, I knew I loved the property and the neighborhood, so I made the decision to buy it. I had my neighbor with me, and she showed me how to decorate it. She is a master of interior design, and her house is stunning. She was therefore aware that she would assist me in furnishing my new home. I had the money to invest in my first property, and my company was doing so much better. When I first moved in, I was required to hire roofing contractors to conduct an inspection. I didn’t want this to happen to me because I’ve heard that flat roofs are prone to leaks. I was prepared to pay for the removal of the flat roof if there were any such worries. They would modernize it with more recognizable shingle roofing. The roofing contractors, however, said the flat roof was in good shape and that they had not discovered any issues with it. All I had to do was give them a call again when I needed flat roof service, and I was good to go.
