The Best HEPA Air Purifiers

Something that I really loved about my old boiler system was how long it lasted.

We have been living in this house for over a decade, and the boiler system still worked just fine. The thing is, my wife and I were concerned about the energy expenses. We agreed that it would be nice to have something more energy efficient. We figured that the boiler had an AFUE rating of 50 or so. We were hoping to have something that was far more efficient. I mean, the boiler provided excellent comfort, but the energy bills seemed to be on the rise in recent years. So we consulted with an HVAC professional to see what kind of boiler we could go for. He talked about combi boilers a lot and how we could have our hot water supplied and perfect heating with an AFUE rating of 95 or so. That definitely seemed energy efficient, but I was curious about how long the boiler would last. Most modern boilers couldn’t be guaranteed to last longer than 25 years, but there was a very nice boiler he said that came in cast iron and lasted for around 40 or better. That’s what I wanted. I didn’t even care that it was so expensive, it was also a combi boiler, and a very advanced type of system. I really loved the controls too. Since having the new combi boiler installed, we have been able to get rid of the old water heater. Our hot water supply is great now, and the energy efficiency of this new boiler system is outstanding.

We had plenty of food to be honest. My one buddy made some delicious shish kabobs with steak, chicken, peppers, onions, and the flavors were amazing. When my friends asked me to adjust the temperature control settings, I quickly brought up the smart app on my phone and made the change. My one buddy asked me if I was ever going to adjust the temperature control, and I told him I already did! He said it looked like I just picked up my phone and texted somebody, and that’s it. Everybody agreed that I never bothered to go to the thermostat to adjust the heating system. That’s when I told them I didn’t have to do that because I had a smart thermostat installed. My buddies don’t really keep up with new HVAC technology, so they wanted to know what in the world I was talking about. I explained that a smart thermostat allows you to adjust the temperature control settings from anywhere on any wifi connected device. I showed them the smart app on my phone, and they all thought it was pretty amazing. They said it was very convenient not having to walk to the thermostat, and they were all interested in getting something similar to my smart thermostat. I told them they didn’t have to get anything fancy, even a simple wifi thermostat would allow them to adjust the temperature control settings remotely. They’re all talking about getting one soon.

The heating system was on the fritz and it was extremely overheated in the office. While we were waiting, I was sweating like crazy and I was tempted to reschedule my appointment. The thing is, I had a miserable toothache and I didn’t want to have to wait a long time to get a new appointment, so I dealt with the overheated space. I kept asking the dentist when the HVAC professional would arrive to fix the heating system, but he said we would be done before he showed up. Surprisingly, the guy showed up early while I was getting my tooth worked on. He didn’t fix everything before I left though, but it did feel more comfortable while the heating system was turned off for a little while. This time when going to the dentist, I was paranoid there would be some issue with the HVAC system again. Fortunately, the temperature control settings were perfect! Also, I learned they had a new UV air purification system installed since the last visit, and I was delighted with the fine air quality. I could actually relax and feel comfortable for a change. I didn’t have any issues with a toothache or anything like that. All I needed was a regular cleaning and I would be out of there in a jiffy. I didn’t have any cavities or anything! I also had to complement the dentist on his choice for getting a UV air purification system. It’s wonderful because it kills the dangerous pathogens, so you can feel safe that you’re not going to come down with something.

All my buddies kept telling me that I needed to get with the times and buy a smart thermostat. I kept saying that my dial thermostat was just fine. I actually got that dial thermostat from my grandparents back in the day. They said it was one of the best thermostats at the time, and it certainly was a good brand. It has lasted all these years and I honestly have never had any issues. Well, when we went to a local HVAC supplier this one time, I saw the thermostats were on sale, including the smart thermostats. I looked at the different makes and models and wasn’t sure about them. Then an HVAC professional was there and told us about the benefits of smart thermostats. He seemed surprised that I was still using a dial thermostat. He said that I could save around 15% on my energy bills just by going for a new smart thermostat. I found this hard to believe, but he showed me the statistics and told all of us about the abilities of these smart thermostats. He talked about geofencing which is a feature that makes it so the thermostat can turn the system off or to a minimal setting when leaving the house. It can also detect when you are coming back home and it will restore the system to your ideal temperature control settings. There’s also a learning mode which makes it so you don’t even have to program the thermostat. On top of that, you can adjust the temperature control settings remotely as you prefer. After hearing all this, I asked my buddies why they didn’t tell me I could save 15% on my energy bills, and I bought the smart thermostat.

I really should have listened to the HVAC professional when he was telling me that I should consider replacing my old central air conditioner. I just wanted to have the thing repaired so I could at least enjoy the rest of the summer. I figured that after the summer, I could purchase a new central AC system when it was cheap, and then have the professionals install it before the following summer. Well, the HVAC pro did say the AC system might not work for the whole summer, but I felt like the system would be just fine. Well, it worked for about 2 months before breaking down. It was still hot too, but I knew I couldn’t afford to have the system fixed anymore. We all had to suffer from an overheated house for a little while before the temperatures became alright again. I worked a lot of overtime hours, partially because I wanted a new HVAC, and partially because I couldn’t stand being at home since it was so overheated. My wife was working all the time too and the kids always spent more time at their friends’ houses. It kind of worked out, but I knew we had to do something before the winter. So, I finally had the HVAC expert come out and had him recommend a good heating system. He ended up talking about the dual-fuel systems and how I could have perfect heating and cooling. It’s a hybrid system so it uses a heat pump along with a gas furnace. The heat pump takes care of all the cooling and provides heating down to about 35 degrees with great efficiency. Then the gas furnace takes over when the temps drop to freezing levels. We’re broke now for sure, but this new HVAC installation was worth it!

I thought everything went great during the inspections, but it seemed like something was overlooked during the HVAC inspection.

I was led to believe that the HVAC system was in perfect condition and with regular maintenance and care, the HVAC would last another decade or so. Well, the cooling system broke down at the beginning of the warm season. I had to have it fixed, which was expensive, but the cooling system broke down again in the middle of the summer. The HVAC professional who came out said it wasn’t even worth it trying to fix this AC system anymore because it had some serious issues. So I didn’t bother with it after that and just picked up a few window AC units. Those helped to some degree, but I had to mostly stay in my room or office with the AC working, while the rest of the house was just miserable and overheated. Nobody wanted to come out to visit me at home, unless it was during the fall or spring seasons. Well, I was dreading this upcoming summer season because I knew I couldn’t afford a new central cooling system. I was so surprised though when my wife sent me away on a little vacation with some friends. I didn’t know why, but she just said I could use a break. It was a great time for sure, but when I got back, I was even more surprised. My wife had a brand new HVAC system installed. It’s a dual-fuel heating system and she said everybody pitched in to cover the cost. I wondered why we would need a heating system for the summer at first, but it was explained to me that it’s a hybrid system that provides heating and cooling! Also, it’s extremely energy efficient!

Sometimes when I think about my life back in high school, I consider the fun times and the worst of times.

I remember how much I hated going to my Biology class.

I lived on the West Coast where the temperatures were mostly warm throughout the year. This meant we rarely had to use the heating systems to keep warm. Well, my Biology teacher was insane, because he regularly cranked up the heating system. His excuse was that he had poor blood circulation, so he was always cold. I mean, I sort of felt bad for the guy but I certainly didn’t feel comfortable in his classroom! I figured if a teacher was dealing with such health concerns, maybe it was best that he was retired from the work. Why continue to work and make all the students suffer, you know? At least we were able to go on some field trips to some places that actually had nice temperature control settings. I was surprised we were even able to do that. I think my favorite experience was when we went to a famous haunted house. I thought because the place was so old, there was no way they had good air conditioning, but their HVAC system was top notch. I learned they had a powerful air purification system and everything. During those days, I played a lot of basketball with my buddies too. I always had good times just hanging out and playing ball, and the best thing was that we went to an indoor gym with a nice court and perfect temperature control all the time.

When I had an HVAC professional come out to tune up my heating system, I asked him to take a seat in the kitchen for a minute.

He seemed confused at first, but I told him I wanted to talk about potentially getting a new heating system.

First he said, he would have to check my current HVAC to know what would be best for the home. So we checked the HVAC very quickly and then he had a seat in the kitchen. He said I had a nice basement and I told him I was planning on finishing it. I thought it would be great to have it sectioned off with a few different bedrooms, and I figured that I could even have a space with a movie theater. When I spoke about all that, he said that in the future when it was finished, it would be perfect to have a ductless multi-split system. He said that I could even get a system early on before the basement was finished, and then I could add more zones to the system later on. He said he recommended an 8 zone system running off a single condenser unit. I was surprised and asked him if that was really possible. He explained there were some highly advanced heat pumps on the market, and the technology was only continuing to improve. He even explained to me that he could get me a nice system with built-in air purification. On top of that, the system would use HEPA filters, for superior air quality in my home. This system sounded too good to pass up, so I made arrangements for a new install right away!

I was so excited when we were able to buy a property with a huge amount of land.

We even have a section of land that is totally flat, and huge! Honestly, it’s about the size of a football field.

Everybody who came to visit my house said that it would be the perfect spot to play some football. When I got a bunch of the guys together, we did exactly that! The only thing that was really troublesome was the old HVAC system we were using in the house. The AC system was definitely struggling in the summer, but we were more worried about how the heating system would be in the winter. We didn’t want to have a struggling furnace since we heard that the temperatures in the winters go into the negative levels. Honestly, that’s scary to me because I have never been in such cold weather in my life. So, we ended up consulting an HVAC professional before the summer ended, to see about getting the best HVAC system for our home. The HVAC expert talked about a few interesting HVAC systems, but he recommended the geothermal HVAC system the most. He said no matter how cold the weather became, the geothermal would pull the heating energy from the stable underground temperatures. He also told me that these systems could last as long as 50 years. It was hard to believe, but definitely seemed worth the investment, so I had it installed. Now we have the perfect comfort in our home. When everybody came over for Thanksgiving, we played some serious football! Of course, we all felt great going back inside to the ideal temperature control settings and excellent food!

Ever since I was a youngster, my grandmother has been telling me that I would be great at different things.

At first she was telling me that I would do great on the radio because I had a pleasant voice and spoke well with people. She tried to tell me that my level of sophistication was unmatched. I never really felt like I was that awesome, and I certainly never wanted to be a radio host. I mean, I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad but I wasn’t sure if that was something I would like to deal with for a career. Then when I fixed her thermostat, she said I would make an amazing HVAC professional. I tried to explain that all I did was change the batteries, but she said it was so much more than that. She said that I carefully checked the whole HVAC system to make sure there were no problems. I even checked the ductwork to make sure there were no leaks and of course I had to check the air filter. I remember reading somewhere that clogged air filters were the cause for some 90% of HVAC repair calls. Well, her air filter wasn’t bad at all, so I knew it was likely the thermostat having issues, so I changed the batteries and it worked. She said that not just anybody would know to do all those things, but I just had a natural talent for it. She actually got me thinking about it, and I supposed that I would do alright in the HVAC industry. I ended up getting into a trade school and becoming a successful HVAC pro, and I sort of owe it to my grandmother for convincing me that I had a gift.
