Raising enough money to buy a new thermostat through a garage sale

It was that time of the year again. Decluttering was not just for creating more space and having a more organized house. It was also to add the money we got from the garage sale where we sold some of the items from the decluttering process to add to the money we had kept aside to buy a quality HVAC. The garage sale was so successful that we had enough to buy a thermostat. We had a lot of things in storage, including furniture in good condition that we had inherited from my brother, who had moved to a different country. According to the expert we talked to, the new HVAC equipment would help with indoor comfort and solve our previous problems with the old HVAC. We came up with the idea of upgrading to new HVAC technology when we visited a friend who works in the HVAC business. She told us its advantages, the most important being that it was more energy efficient. We thought this would limit our choices, but many HVAC brands had different prices. The HVAC provider we hired helped us choose the best heat and cooling unit for our home that was within our budget. She then calculated the heating and cooling loads which took into account our home’s location, age, size, and construction materials. With all that information, the HVAC repairman would get the right size of the HVAC unit. The HVAC installation process was a day’s work, and there would be more than one HVAC professional working inside and outside the house. When they finished, the tech reminded me about changing the filter every three or four months now that we had a cat, not forgetting annual HVAC maintenance.
