Our first solo job as cooling experts

Seven years ago, my now wife and I met at the HVAC program at the local institution.

We were both training to be qualified cooling experts. When we aced the training program, topping the class, we got an offer from the popularly known HVAC business. We were in different teams, but we both did the same thing helping with indoor air quality and comfort. We sometimes found ourselves in the same team while doing offsite jobs. We both enjoyed being in the cooling industry and working together. We gradually became a force reckoned with the air conditioner company. One day when we were at a friend’s house for a lunch party, her mini split air conditioner broke down. It was a holiday weekend which meant that most companies were closed, and it would be almost impossible to get a cooling specialist down to the house as soon as possible. Like muscle memory, my now wife and I offered to examine the heat pump to attempt an air conditioning tune-up. We established the issue, and fortunately, fixing it would not take long or much effort. As a bonus, we gave the HVAC duct a once over. Unfortunately, there was a leak, and we had to do duct sealing. The host joked about how he would pay in kind for the work. We requested a chocolate cake for dessert. She was not kidding because as soon as we said that, she adorned her apron and started baking. When the HVAC equipment rumbled to life, we all unconsciously clapped. The other guests asked us, the new contractors, about new air conditioning once we finished fixing the zone control system. The thermostat was doing a good job when it came to temperature control. We enjoyed the rest of the party with restored quality comfort.
