I couldn't get much sleep after the furnace stopped
My wife took the kids to her mom’s house for the week of spring break.
I had to work every day and I was happy to have a quiet house.
The first couple of days were really nice. I didn’t miss the kids or my wife. I enjoyed watching whatever I wanted on the television and I ordered pizza every night for dinner. By the third or fourth night, I began to miss my family. I told my wife to come home early, but she had already promised her mom that they would go to a parade on Saturday. It’s a good thing that my wife did not come home early, because we had problems with the furnace. I tried to get some rest so I could work on the furnace repair the next day. It was too cold without the furnace, even after I put a space heater in the bedroom. I contacted an emergency repair person that handles furnaces and heaters. The guy charged me a stiff fee for the after-hours service call, but he came to the house to repair the furnace. The issue turned out to be a minor problem with the ignition switch. It was faulty and needed to be changed. I had the furnace repairs completed before my wife came home and she never had to worry about the furnace or the problems that I encountered. I told her about the furnace issues a couple of days after she got home. I certainly didn’t want to ruin her homecoming with the bad news about the furnace, so I waited until her and the kids settled and back to our regular routine.
