The benefits of retirement
My partner and I decided to relocate to the South after a lot of contemplation and discussion.
In our retirement, we were looking for a change and a simpler lifestyle.
However, it was a hard decision to make because the two of us had to sell our home. We raised our kids in this home, but they had all grown up and moved on. It was the perfect time for my partner and I to make the next step. I thought one of our children might want to buy the house, fix it up, and keep it in the family. However none of them had an interest in returning to the suburbs. All of our children have moved to various cities and they had no interest in scaling back their lifestyle to fit in the suburbs. Once my partner and I made our final decision, the two of us put the house on the market right away. Within just a couple of weeks, the two of us received an offer on the house. It was a little lower than our asking price, however it was a nice offer that did not require us to do any additional work in the home. Ultimately, we took the deal and began the sale process. My partner and I moved to a small retirement community down South. The two of us have lots of amenities at our disposal. We have access to a sauna, swimming pool, and a jacuzzi. In our community, each one of the condos is equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and HVAC equipment. The two of us do not even need to worry about the appliances because everything is cared for by the home association. At one point, there was an issue with the AC, so I called the association. They promptly sent an A/C contractor to check on the problem. The two of us did not have to worry about paying for the A/C repair or finding a repair service, as all of these fees are built into the living price for the condo. It’s easy and convenient for someone retired looking to lighten their load.
