Weed ventilation
I like to think that I am a pretty cool parent.
I never wanted to be the sort of adult who squashed my kids dreams or told them they couldn’t be true to themselves. I also wanted to have a close relationship with all of my offspring, rather than establishing an authoritative relationship that caused us to be distant. This is one of the reasons why I was happy to turn our backyard shed into a private suite for my son. All we needed to do to transform the unused building into a viable living space was to install indoor air temperature control for him. We didn’t want to give him anything too fancy as far as indoor air temperature control and ventilation, so we just had a mini split ductless heating and cooling system installed. He could easily change the indoor air temperature up or down depending on his preferences and the conditions outdoors. Since we live in an inclement climate, it is necessary to have both heating and air conditioning and every space. You never know when you are going to need to offset a burning hot day or a freezing cold night. We thought that the mini split ductless heating and cooling system was doing a good job… Until we saw that my son was opening his windows every night. It appeared as though we were paying for the heating and cooling system to operate, and meanwhile he was letting all of the high-quality indoor air escape into the atmosphere. We sat down to talk to my son about his HVAC usage and our energy bills. I’m glad to say, he was very honest about the reason. He didn’t want his cool new living space to reek of weed, so he tried to ventilate the smoke outdoors. After that, we bought him an air purifier. I’m glad we can have honest conversations.
