Northern Homes had no a/c
I was born in the northeast & did not move to the southeast until I was about 8 years old, and i am the youngest child of many siblings… We lived in a large apartment up north, & the people I was with and I had not only a large apartment with five home offices, however the people I was with and I also had a swimming pool & the people I was with and I were located on a golf course, and my mom & dad obtained the apartment extra cheap because it had sat vacant for years & had been ransacked & needed a ton of work, however by the time I came along, the apartment was charming… One thing the people I was with and I did not have, though, was air conditioning! You would know with a apartment enjoy that, there would be a/c, however there was not.
It was not unusual, either, no houses that I knew of had air conditioning.
In fact, I never even knew that because I was just a kid, & air conditioning was not something that I even knew about. It just wasn’t necessary or proper up there; Everyone did have a gas furnace, though. A gas furnace was a necessity. I can remember drying my wet mittens on the radiator when I came in from playing in the snow. I’m sure that is not safe, however the people I was with and I were a braver lot back then. Anyway, the apartment entirely has a/c now, although I never knew what it was until the people I was with and I moved to the south after my dad died & my mom could not afford to keep the house, then fuel oil gas oil furnaces were absolutely pricey, & it was too much for her.
