Some truth on space heating
Through using a portable space heater for several years as my alternate form of heating in my home I have found out some truths about space heaters that are both good and not so good.
- The first thing about space heaters that is very good, and i’m sure you already know about this but I am going to say it anyway, is the fact that with using a portable space heater over central heating you will save a ton of money on energy use.
Now for one of the not so good things I have noticed about using portable space heaters. When you use a portable space heater too much, the air quality in your home gets a bit on the dry side. When I use the space heater a lot and the central heating less I notice that my eyes will get dry. And sometimes I will even get a sore throat because the air quality gets so dry. This is one of the biggest drawbacks on space heating. It doesn’t have an air filter like a central heating system does, so I assume that may have a little bit to do with it. I’m no certified heating and air conditioning specialist, so I am not sure if I am speaking out of my back side here or not but this is just my personal findings of the extensive use of portable space heaters in a home. Now this doesn’t mean you should not use portable space heaters. I still use mine quite a bit. Just not as much as I used to.
