I elected to stay with my parents during the pandemic
When the leadership first announced the shelter in place order for our state, I decided right then and there to go stay with my elderly parents.
I don’t have a wife or noisy teenagers, I just live with my roomie Steve.
And I decided it would be better for me to be cooped up with them, just in case. Thankfully they are lively and vibrant people for their ages, however still getting on in years. I knew if this lockdown dragged on for further weeks, they would need a lot of help, so I invited myself to stay with them. I was able to go shopping for them, handle some light and heavy chores, and I even managed to repair their errant a/c device! That was a change of pace for me, since I had almost zero experience with heating and A/C systems. That is aside from troubleshooting the device in my apartment. The three of us were about three weeks into the lockdown when every one of us woke up in the early morning hours to find the AC working overtime, and no air coming out the vents. I ran my hand in front of every air vent in the house, and they were all dead silent and still. Unfortunately, at the same time, the central heating and A/C system in the hall closet was still running at a really high rate and my folks didn’t suppose or know what to do. However, I kept them calm and started to do a Google search for this particular air conditioner problem. I managed to find a local hotline number offering free advice about heating and A/C troubles, and the nice specialist on the phone assisted me through the troubleshooting process.
